    Three Components of Ethical Leadership that Casino Business Should Develop

     

    Ethical leadership emphasizes character and virtue of the leader which can be confusing

    to other concepts of leadership such as authentic leadership, spiritual leadership and transformational leadership.

    However all these theories include altruism, consideration and effectivity as a role model in ethical leadership as common properties.

    Few scholars discussed the importance and concept of ethical leadership but

    it is not clearly defined. Only recently the importance of ethical character in leadership

    began to receive more attention.

     

    As ethics became major element in all human relationships including leader and organization, more empirical research projects are being worked on.

    While initial studies have focused on proving features and types of ethical leadership,

    recent projects expanded to relation between ethical characteristic and organizational effectivity; attempting to prove its relationship to job satisfaction, commitment, turnover intention in individual and organizational level.

     

    Ethical behavior of a leader is crucial in strengthening company values

    and these values produced by leader's actions can affect the entire company

    so ethical leadership plays an important role in the management of corporate ethics.

    In other words, for corporate ethics management the role of the leader is

    central as any value that a leader propagates will spread to the whole company. This is why ethical leadership is a necessary characteristic in any leader.

    Ethical behavior of a leader is crucial in strengthening company values

    and the values produced by leader's actions will ripple through the company

    so ethical leadership plays an important role in the management of corporate ethics.

    Ethical leadership builds supportive relationship with corporate stakeholders by taking social responsibilities and the latter has become a major element which can establish a positive

    image.

    Ethical leadership stresses on how the leader utilizes social authority in making decisions,

    and in corporate involvement.

    For the leader to be known as responsible and inspiring to the peers,

    s/he should show appeal of a role model and trustworthiness through actions

    and these actions include concepts of integrity, compassion, fairness etc.,

    while altruism and motivation are similar to charismatic leadership.

     

    Brown et al. states three principles of ethical leadership as:

    firstly, a leader treating employees with honesty, fairness, trust, consideration and other

    exemplary behavior make subordinates want to make the leader a role model.

     

    Secondly, through Two-way Communication the leader can offer opinion on ethics

    which may draw interest of the employees while showing fairness in the work process.
